Mala was called to the Singapore bar in 1992 and to the Bar of England & Wales prior to that in 1990. As a practising lawyer Mala gained experience in most areas of general practice work primarily family law, probate, personal injury, employment law, debt collection, intellectual property law, defamation and post judgement issues in these areas.
In later years her experience as inhouse legal counsel (of an insurance company and later as inhouse counsel for an e-commerce subsidiary of a telco,) enabled her to gain wide ranging experience in legal and operational issues relating to both general and life insurance matters including insurance claims litigation as well as legal issues relating to internet, media and information communications technology (ICT) having gained experience in many and varied kinds of technology contract drafting, (through acquiring domain expertise) protection of intellectual property rights, and minimizing contractual risk exposure in relation thereto.
Currently, Mala practices out of her own boutique practice firm in a group law practice setting and handles a myriad of general practice work from contested and uncontested probate and family law matters, wills and trust matters, personal injury claims, pretrial criminal practice work, debt collection, contested and uncontested mental capacity applications, trademark applications/infringement, copyright infringement, defamation, ACRA regulatory matters and other general corporate matters.
Mala is a Commissioner for Oaths and a Notary Public.
